Longtime gem Pita House offers alternative options for holiday treats

Like the proverbial three Wise Men that traveled a long distance bearing gifts, three brothers from Israel traveled to Greenville in 1989 and opened a Middle Eastern restaurant and grocery. “It wasn’t easy, at first,” says Ziad Namouz, the youngest of the brothers, of their restaurant that tucks almost invisibly off South Pleasantburg Drive. “We had to introduce the people in Greenville to Middle Eastern cuisine.”
