The Art of the Pocket Square

The pocket square is seen as the finishing touch to dapper styling. For business or casual attire, fashion experts recommend wearing a pocket square that has a different pattern or color than the necktie. However, the pocket square should still work in harmony with the neckwear and complement the overall look. While there are many ways to fold a pocket square, the “Man About TOWN” prefers the “puff fold.” This is the simplest of all folds. The desired result is to have a “puff” of fabric discreetly peeking out of the suit pocket.

Here’s how:

1—Lay the pocket square flat.

2—Pinch the middle of the fabric, allowing the corners to drape naturally.

3—With one hand holding the middle of the pocket square, use the other to gather the fabric from the bottom and gently roll it up so that it fits snugly in the breast pocket.

4—Pull the middle of the pocket square up in a puff-like motion about one inch above the edge of the coat pocket. Dashing and dapper—the finishing touch.
