About 15 years ago, Harriet Goldsmith was hit by a lightning bolt of inspiration so powerful it has shot millions of sparks out into the Upstate. The ignition, she explains, was quite simple. It came by way of a magazine article detailing the work of a group of women in Seattle who had come together to form a collective giving group.
